Friends of Stoke Climsland Parish Church is a registered charity that aims to raise funds for the fabric of the church and to do so in a way that helps build a sense of community within the village.

It is not religious and, although we do have members from the church congregation, Friends is separate from the congregation and many members do not attend church.

Money raised is for the upkeep and improvement of the historical building only and cannot be spent on anything religious.

What does it do?

The church is a very symbolic building.  It stands in the heart of our village and, as well as providing a venue for regular worshipper, it is also important to a far wider group; to mark key family moments through baptism, marriage and funerals; and as a key historic building within the village.

'Friends' was therefore established as an independent charity that raises money for the fabric of the church.  That is the building, its fixtures and fittings and the surrounding grounds.

The constitution of the charity means we have to have members.  Members pay a nominal fee to have a say in how the charity operates, to support our work and to elect the trustees. Anyone who cares about maintaining and improving our Parish Church can become a member for only £5.

Can you help?

Whatever your talents, we are always delighted to have new members and offers of help.  If you feel you may be able to spare a little time to help with next year’s festival, or with our other fund raising events, then please call Kathryn Carnegie on 01579 370187, or speak to one of the other committee members.  We will be delighted to hear from you.
