Festival shortlisted in national competition
Stoke Climsland Parish Church has been short listed to the final twelve in a national competition.
The competition, run by Ecclesiastical Insurance, aims to find the most innovative church fund raising appeal and Stoke Climsland's Whiteford Music Festival has been short-listed to the final twelve.
Sally Meadows, the Competition Co-ordinator said:
We've had to whittle it down from over 100 to the final twelve and there have been many hours of deliberation and debate in doing so. As a judging panel, we strongly believe the twelve we have picked are a good cross section of many different ideas out there...all have produced an entry which made it very clear where their innovation lies."
The top three will be announced at a presentation evening held at Windsor Castle on 27th November and photographs of all twelve will be used in the Ecclesiastical calendar for 2008. The top three also receive £1,500, £750 and £500 respectively for their church with £100 for the runners up.
Bill Stuart-White, Rector of Stoke Climsland Parish Church commented:
"We are absolutely delighted to be down to the final twelve of the competition - it is a tribute to the all the hard work that goes into making the event a success. Both members of the committee and people from across the village are currently pulling together to make this year's festival the best yet."
